Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival или проще киинофестиваль в канадском городке Банффе объявил первого лауреата года. В конкурсе 2018 Banff Mountain Book Competition Гран При присужден итальянцу Paolo Cognetti за его роман, который в английском переводе называется The Eight Mountains.
Всего на конкурс были представлены 145 книг из 14 стран. 27 попали в финал. Который собственно и рассудило жюри.
Жюри 2018 Book Competition: Ian Welsted (CAN, climber, Piolet d’Or winner, writer), Paula Wright (USA, writer, Associate Editor at Alpinist Magazine, doctoral candidate at University of Oregon), and Larry Stanier (CAN).
Роман Paolo Cognetti рассказывает о многолетней дружбе городского мальчика, папа которого ч детства приучал к хождению в горах, со сверстником, уроженцем горной долины.
